What stops us from achieving success, either personally or professionally?

We don’t think we know enough or have enough experience, are qualified enough, have the right degree, credits, or whatever. Most of the time we have no idea what we do know! I can’t tell you how many people have unmatched knowledge and experience that they have never discovered or don’t have the confidence to tap into. People say the same thing to me all the time, “I don’t have a clue what I could do with my life other than what I’m doing right now”. The answer is a lot more than you think!

The other culprit that stops us in our tracks is the second guessing game. We play it with ourselves all day every day. Take a few minutes to listen to the voice in your head. It continually questions your resolve. All day long you make decisions and the voice inside your head questions them; “you can’t do it that way!” or “you can’t try that, you have no experience – you don’t even know what you’re doing! Our organization has never done it that way!” Next thing you know you’re back at the beginning or just plain stuck.

Have you ever spent time with someone and when you walk away you think to yourself, “wow – I feel so jazzed!”. These people don’t know everything but they do know one thing; if you don’t at least try you will never get there. We’re all so worried about failing or doing it perfectly that we’ve stopped trying. Mistakes are beautiful! They show you have the courage to try! And that’s where the real lessons begin.

People who have an ability to see the glass is half full take negative energy out of the equation and enable clear and present thinking. And they are typically surrounded and supported by other great people.  Learn to distinguish between the full time naysayers and the full time fans and gravitate towards the spirit that pushes you forward vs the one that holds you back. There are no rules to brilliance – we all make our own!

Having the life you want begins with knowing who you really are,

SO GET OUT OF YOUR OWN WAY!

This was my favorite mentors’ most powerful message to me. If you are a leader you have likely heard this statement at least once in your life. My brother loved to tell me this one; “Lis, do one thing every day that scares you”, and my daughter’s response, “jesus Mom – that one’s on the side of a Lululemon bag!”. And for good reason! Fear paves the road to trust in your own power.

  1. Find your universal power and it can instantly ease the fear.
  2. Energy comes from having a mission – being jazzed about something.
  3. Whatever it is this needs to happen every day just like eating and sleeping.

And if you need support to do this then you’ve come to the right place!

The greatest pleasure in life is doing what people say you cannot do!!!
